Water GHAims (Gender Harmony Aims) EuroCamp: European Training Camp in Italy

Water GHAims EuroCamp successfully took place from 26/08/2018 to1/09/2018 in Trapani, Italy in which athletes aged from 14 to 18 years old together with their coaches traveled to Italy to participate in a pilot program. The purpose of the Campus was to raise awareness among athletes, coaches and stakeholders about gender discrimination in sport industry.

During the Camp, participants initially received special training, informed and exchanged views on combating gender discrimination in sports. In this context an alternative training program (GET), based on equal opportunities was developed, and young athletes had the opportunity to train according to this. The innovative program promotes collaboration, team work, trust and empowerment of body and spirit.

Moreover EuroCamp included several cultural activities that aim to bring people together while exchanging their respective cultures.

Τhe project continues with the analysis of the results of the survey conducted in Trapani, as well as a manual, including innovative training techniques and the research results, will be available to the public.

Water GHAims EuroCamp is a 12 month international cooperation funded under the Erasmus Sport Program of the European Commission.

The project promotes the exchange of knowledge and cooperation between the five partner organizations: ASD Aquarius (Italy), Helsiborg Simsällskap (Sweden), WKS Slask (Poland), Technological Educational Institution of Western Greece and European Institute of Local Development (Greece).
